We are NOT another Certification Body

The Trust Organic Small Farmers Alliance is NOT just another certification body within the world of Fair Trade and Organic Agriculture.

Our first priority is to increase sales and market share of fairly traded high quality products from marginalized small farmers.

We are a global initiative with an unique holistic approach. We are NOT a kind of “fair-light-certification” in competition to other certifying bodies e.g. FLO or IFAT, and we do NOT want to replace these certifications.

There are good reasons, why we have put the word “trust” right at the beginning of the name of our Initiative. And there are even better reasons, why we did not set up another scheme for monitoring and evaluation.

If marginalized producer organizations and their like-minded trading partners already have passed through

• organic certification (sometimes even from several labeling institutions),

• export and import regulations

• and in some cases high bureaucracy hustle with the different entities in Fair Trade,

then they should not be confronted with additional obstacles to rise the market share of their products.

No doubt: All members of the Trust Organic Small Farmers Alliance commit themselves to work hard for compliance of our „Eco-Ethic 5-Star-Gold-Standard“.
